Pedagogy
Written by fellpony

Prompted by a student enquiry about “the word for the science of teaching”. PS - this is not "serious poetry".

Pedagogy
sad and doggy.
Pediatric –
kids are sick;
pedophile,
a greedy smile.
Pederasty?
Really nasty.
I don’t know.
I’ll get on my pedalo
and just go.

Pedalo?

A pedalo? That can never be!
Pedagogues travel in a 2CV!!

Couldn't resist this one, Sue!
In Denmark, the 2CV car is rudely referred to as a "pedagog-vogn" ("pedagog wagon) because it seems to be the ONLY car most newly-hatched teachers (and just about EVERY student in Denmark!) can afford to drive ......... :grin

During winter, they are occasionally known as a "pedagog-slęd" ["sledge"]

definition of a 2CV - a plagiarised resume.

Otherwise known as a clockwork frog or a tin snail.

I must see if I can fit that in (plus 2 French farmers in their Sunday Best hats, of course.)

I'm suddenly being reminded of my sisters old Ford Fiesta. We used to call it a sardine tin and she used to call it a classic. She was doing her Phd in biochemistry at the time..:)

Nice piece.
'fit' for purpose ...??

♪ ..... and a partridge in a pear tree ♪ no doubt! :grin

Reminds me of being one of 8 Venture Scouts travelling from Liverpool to Fort William (mid-60s) in a Mini Clubman (the half-timbered variety!) with FULL CLIMBING GEAR as luggage! :eek

a 2CV is not a real 2CV without a sticker in the back saying "nuclear power? - no thanks" or even better "Atomkraft? Nein Danke".
not forgetting .........

:grin . the cloud of black smoke this "hovercraft" seems to glide upon :eek

But it is such a horrid word.

I don't know how much your phase of teaching has been politicised and over run with consultants. Primary teaching is a little like living in Hamlyn. Rats (consultants - usually failed teachers or heads) bloody everywhere. That P word. They use it all the time to dress up the crap they spout with some credibility. Every time it trips off the tongue of some aging know all who couldn't teach to save his or her live, I want to scream obscenities at the top of my voice.

Rant over, enjoyed.

Oh, yes!

Right on the money, Phil - in a way it was a relief for me (but NOT for my bank manager! :( ) when ill health forced me to retire at least 10 years early!

Consultants etc etc .... think of a slurry tank, the biggest bits ALWAYS float to the top :grin :grin

Can I add my signature to your rant????

As it isn't serious I'll allow rhyming pedagogy with dodgy. Is that assenance or slant rhyme. I'm quite jealous of the literary terms poets have, which allow them to get away with almost anything.Always nice to see you playing with words, like that; some people take them far too seriously

ta - you can tell this is a posh term I don't actually say.
