This poem is for all of those people who told me not to write depressing poetry. This goes out to all of those people who told me that I couldn't be depressed. Who told me that they hated it when I was depressed. Couldn't you have just loved me for what I was?!?!?Cry

Can I ever tell you
how I really feel
It hurts to hide what's really true
Cause then I am not real

One day you said that you would leave
If I ever said
Somthing wrong or mention anything horrible or dead

So now I cry all alone
Hoping you'll still love me
I hope this poem has really shown
That I'm not really happy

Your poem is so sad.
Don't hide how you feel but if others cannot cope with your depression then that is their weakness and not in anyway a reflection on you.
To open up and express shows strength, so be proud of yourself, I would not have been capable of writing emotional poetry at 14 , you clearly have talents and are intouch with yourself.
Review sites like this if you are vulnerable are a little risky but if you can handle the critics then go for it!
And as in the words of l'oreal " you're worth it". x

"That I'm not really happy"
That is not depression that is the common state for 99.9% of the population most of the time.I'm afraid you are just going to have to get used to it

Why don't you go and have read of Punchy's poem in the children's forum. It might help, it was written for people in your situation.

Your poetry belongs to you. It's your deeply personal expression so don't let any asshole try and tell you what you can or cannot write. The same goes for your feelings...though I should add that we all have to consider carefully when and to whom we reveal our deepest emotions...

It may be that your 'friends' were not emotionally mature enough to handle your depression. Try not to judge them too harshly(yeah, I know I just called them 'assholes'!). Perhaps some of them just wanted to see you 'happy' again but didn't know how to help that come about.

Bottleblonde's right that virtually all of us are suffering in some way or another...so you're in good company
;)

Have you ever thought of phoning the Samaritans (08457 90 90 90 or email:jo@samaritans.org)? They can offer a patient, non-judgemental listening service...they're very friendly (I know, my wife is one!)

I agree with punchy that it requires great strength and courage to be honest about your feelings. Good luck and keep writing.
