The Sneaky Snake - My version of Adam and Eve

Once upon a time, there lived two people in a forest. The first person was named Adam, and the second, Eve. They were Friends with God.

One day God told Adam and Eve that they may eat any of the fruit from any of the trees that grew in the great forest, except for one.

"This tree," He said "Is called the tree of the knowlage of good and evil. It lies in the heart(middle) of the forest. You may NOT eat from it."

So, Adam and Eve agreed, and they began to play.

The next day, Eve decided to try and find this tree.  When she had found it, she was in awe. It was a very large tree, with golden fruits hanging from it.  She thought for a moment about eating one of the apples that hung so freshly from the tree, but then decided against it and shook her head in disgust at her disobidient thoughts.

A few days later, while Eve was gathering some berries from a bush, she heard a sly, smooth voice say,

"
Has God told you that you can eat the fruit from all the trees?"

"Yes, all but one." Said Eve, pointing her finger to the tree that lay a few feet from her.

"All but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

"Oh that is truly silly." Said the voice. "I hardly think such a golden, fresh fruit would do you any harm. Besides," The voice hissed, as the sneaky snake emerged from the bush next to her. "You would obtain(be given) the knowledge of good and evil. That means, that you would know what is good and what is bad. Wouldn't you like that?"

"Yes.." Sighed Eve. "But God said that we must not eat from it. Otherwise one day we will die!"

"That's nonsense. Of course you will not die." Lied the serpent. "Besides, think of how good it will taste!" The sneaky snake purred into her ear.

"Hmm, I do suppose that one bite wouldn't hurt.." She decided and plucked one of the fruits from the forbidden tree. As she ate the fruit,
she thought how wonderful it would be to be as wise and powerful as God. She believed the serpent's lie.

She soon began to feel different. Not in a good way at all, but very sick and very sad.

She brought the fruit to Adam and he too took a bite, for her could not resist the fruit.
They soon became unhappy and fearful of God.

Adam and Eve heard God calling them.  Without thinking, they dived into the bushes, but God knew where they were.  When God asked them if they had eaten from The Tree of the
Knowledge of Good and Evil that He had told them not to touch they
blamed each other for their sins.

God was sad that Adam and Eve had disobeyed them.  He told them that they had to leave the forest, "From now on you'll have to scratch a living from the soil.  You'll need to make clothes and grow food.  Nothing will come easily -- not even childbirth.  And one day, you will die without my spirit in you."

Perhaps they were well rid of him.

A well enough written retelling of the myth. God sounds awfully picky.

Nice story, but watch your spelling!

I don't think the snake lied too much though (except about dying). They will get knowledge of good and evil eventually. Just have to learn it the hard way.

One problem I had with this was that eve brought Adam the fruit after she became sick. Wouldn't it have been better to have her enjoy it tremendously, then offering it to Adam and then having them become sick together?
