how shallow that pond you call your own
throw a stone
and to the bottom it sinks with ripples forecast
quick to dissipate
how words that you seek and centrifuge around
leave you dizzy
and again to the surface ruffled paper to pen
quick to irate
you stand or just barely
facing stranger
magazine like swatch transparent
boasting bullets
your eyes glaze
humbled to the level of being pitied
slow to respond
you have become desolate
as if your oasis defies
your master’s wishes
he feeds you like a dog
and desserts you crumbled
apple of my eye
how try as you may you can’t
try again
defy your desire to be snug in your ease
quick to please
how when you chose your words and tried to be witty
left empty
and again to the surface ruffled paper
you never have screamed

The 'oasis', the 'dog', the 'pool' could be the muse / the 'oasis' of inspiration? There's some really nice phrases in there: 'words that you seek and centrifuge around' and the mysterious: 'magazine like swatch transparent' The third verse has the most interesting imagery, but is also the hardest to penetrate. I'm unsure about..... 'and desserts you crumbled apple of my eye' 'Desserts' is presumably a pun on the 'oasis' bit and the food ties in with feeding the dog and the 'apple' ties with 'crumble'...but I don't really get this bit, including the title phrase 'apple of my eye' which implies an object of devotion (usually a person)....

A sort of dialogue between the two people involved.. The magazine is that of his weapon... The apple of my eye is the demeaning "flirt" that he gives you before letting you go... wt |
