"When a man wears high heels and a long evening gown, he is thought of as a transexual!" Damn! Now what am I going to wear to the party? |

A woman in trousers and tie is considered to be alright but a guy in a skirt and a blouse (not a shirt) is labelled a 'transvestite'. Not as good as rhyming 'transexual' with 'perplex you all' I must admit. |

Trendy? I suppose it's women that decide on what's trendy, for I find it rather un-attractive when a woman wears such clothes. Besides, did Marlene Dietrich not already do it more than 60 years ago? I like to think I'm rather open minded, but men and women do have different shapes and hence some things are not exactly figure-flattering when worn by the opposite sex |

Steve, glad to know you still have the tutu! Nathan, I prefer my version, but yours is very good. Are you querying my use of the word, transexual? I did wonder, myself, as transexuals feel they are in the wrong body and transvestites like to wear the opposite sex's clothes. Your choice of word would fit better, but I assumed that if they feel in the wrong body, they would also like to wear the opposite sex's clothes. I just think it so unfair that men should be spitefully penalised for doing something that women are praised for, and get away with. |

My touch pad is going manic! Different shapes we are meant to be but with the size zero models you can't tell the boys from the girls! |

Firstly congratuations on that convoluted rhyme, it was a tour de force. Are a fan of the great Tom Lehrer by any chance? I understand what you are saying but some women can carry off that look and look quite stylish but I have yet to see any man that can look anything but ungainly and awkard in high heels and a dress. It's just a question of style cheers Jane

I’ve never had the inner urge To wear a smart tuxedo. I feel it would annihiliate My feminine libido. High heeled shoes and evening gown – Went our with the slim waist Trousers and tops are comfortable And much more to my taste. Good subject Audrie

A former transsexual/transvestite man, who later abandoned the life style, said of high heels, 'BURN THEM!' He had even less regard for nylon stockings. I think he found out how much women sometimes endured to look good. I also once knew a gay woman who came to a company social event with her partner, both of them dressed in tux and bow-tie. That association stuck in my mind. Mia |

Jane, I'm ashamed to say I have never heard of Tom Lehrer. I'll have to look him up. Agree with you that a stick-thin girl can look smart in a tux, but then she is built like a youth anyway. I think it's the broad shoulders and legs and feet that spoil it for men! Have to admit I was rather pleased with the rhyming, which is why I didn't use 'tranvestite'. Josie, Have to agree with you on the choice of clothing! Mia, I'm sure he was right, but we all go for the high heels when we are young. |
