Not exactly cutting edge, but it was hard to resist (not that I tried).
A bitter row has erupted in Pullet-St-Mary over who has the rights to the famous Dangleby gingerbread name.
The
Owl and Wicket first sold the product to tourists 150 years ago and now the owners want to trademark the name.
But rivals from the
Ferret and Frock Coat said they have produced a similar gingerbread for over 100 years and losing the right to use the name would be "unfair".
Even the local Monster Raving Loony Party candidate Hilary Nicely-Thankyou has got involved, claiming branding the product was "unnecessary".
Dicky Mint, appointed spokesman for the
Owl and Wicket and also a well known gay rights campaigner, stunned the community when he spoke to the BBC last night: “I shall not be representing either claimant in this action. The reason is that
I’m the only ginger in this village.”
