This is a joke on myself and bands that do cover songs. It seems that sometimes I get a great idea for a story and I begin writing and then I realize it is a great story.....that has already been written. You know how it is you read something and later it comes out in your writing. Well I wondered what would happen if I just kept writing and this is what came of it.
Local Writer Decides To Do “Cover” Stories
A local wordsmith has announced that he will be doing “cover”
stories of some of the more famous writers. The local man, named I.P Freely,
made the announcement on his website istealwriting.com. Many of you may not be familiar
with “cover” stories because I.P. has just recently “discovered” this new method of
writing. I.P. explains that he came up with it when he noticed how many bands
did other bands songs and called them “covers”. So he asked himself why can’t
writers do the same thing.
I.P.'s first real roadblock came when he announced he
was in the midst of writing his first book and it would be titled “A Cujo cover”.
Cujo being one of the many books of the famous Stephen King. I.P. had posted a
snippet of his future book and there were many cry’s of plagiarism. As I.P.
states “Of course it is the same it is a “Cover” book. It is in honor of
Stephen that I spent so much time typing out Cujo.” Stephen King’s lawyers did
not seem to understand the “cover” book idea either. After seeing I.P.’s
website they had it shut down and now they are suing I.P. for plagiarism and
using Stephen’s name without permission. I.P., who lives in his mother’s
basement, after he learned of the lawsuit was quoted as saying. “Some artists
are just never understood.”

Nice take. | Written by coosh (822 comments posted) 12th March 2008 | | Nice idea, book covers, and an entertaining image of a guy typing out Stephen King. Ultimately you could just replicate anything, fake the lot of 'em... how about a cover version of a tarpaulin?... or "Lid Zeppelin"?... I'll get ma koot... Particulary enjoyed the final quote, nice concept and great fun. |
