Salt Star -- Translation
By mia_ms_kim
11 March 2008
This is another 'salt' poem by Shiva Ryu (a Korean poet), translated into English. It reads almost like a children's poem, but with a depth of meaning.

Salt Star

People living on Salt Star
cannot shed tears.
Because if they shed tears
Salt Star will melt.
Salt Star people
try to hide their tears, so again and again
they blink their eyes.
Salt Star sparkles more brightly
Because of that

or it seems a bit like that -- with a sort of underlying narrative.

Interesting bloke , your Shiva Ryu .

Keep translating -- You are opening up new areas of poetry for me .
