Ben Hall's Treasure
By Robru
13 March 2008
Adventurous kids with a weekend camp out, and some adventures that came from there.

Ben Hall was a bushranger
Australia's Robin Hood
He stole from those he thought had wealth
Like any thinking robber would.

Rumour used to have it
That this Australian Knave
Stashed his stolen treasure
High in a hillside cave.

A bunch of kids went camping
Close to where this thief was known
To have sheltered from the law
When his hiding place was blown.

There away up on the hillside
A cave could just be seen
Could it hold gold and jew'ls
Like us kids had never seen.

 Well, I got myself elected
To climb up and have a look
To search that cave completely
Every cranny, every nook.

The climb was not eventful
Just a little slip, some pain
Fall down a bit, grab a hold
Then climb right up again.

When I got there, what a shock,
No gold or jewels just then
A vixen guarding little cubs
This was a wily fox's den.

Foxey snarled, and I let go
I was soon bouncing down
Ripped the backside from my shorts
And skin from parts thus shown.

I was delivered at the bottom
In a dusty messy heap
Torn shorts exposing private parts
From which blood began to seep.

I slowly rose onto my feet
And looked way up the hill
Of seeking long lost treasure
I think I've had my fill.

Hi Phil, you are right, it was ouch! Then a four hour ride on a push bike to get home. It was a lot of fun though. :grin
