Tapping at the door
with its damp and muddy paw
Is the pointer with no patience
 Who I'm trying to ignore
The tapping gets more frequent
 like a metronome at speed
I wish I'd got a dog flap
 or a less impatient breed

A funny bit of work, it raised a smile and that's a rare occurrence on the site these days

Thankyou so much for your review, at least I now have the answer, I was wondering what the best possible solution to my problem was. Would a blunt instrument be as effective?

I would give anything I could just to have my dear little Gemma back with me again, scratching on my door. She died at the age of 18 and a half (Jack Russell) and a more faithful friend you could never have than your dog. Make the most of every single minute with yours for you will never find a human being who can give you the love and loyalty that a dog can. As for your poem, I loved the chug chug chug of the rhythm. It matched the scratch, scratch, scratch extremely well. Think: How would you like to be locked out of your home in this cold winter weather? You'd scratch too.

Enjoyed this, PP. Rhythmically comic. I struggle to cope with a cat - a dog would drive me insane.

Quick script for JWallenda:

Fred: I shot my dog last night.
Des: Was it mad?
Fred: Bloody furious mate.

This is very cute... I have to cats that are incessently tapping on my door. Too bad I can't think of a witty poem about those two. I really enjoyed this.
