When we lack the courage to voice the questions in our minds, I guess the coward's way out is to lie to ourselves and others in the hope that one day we'll believe. This is my first submission on this site and the first poem longer than a haiku which I have written in years, so I'd love to hear critique! Maybe you wonder too Whether I think of you As the day turns to night And I turn out the light And just maybe you dare To believe that I care What it is that you think Now you've slept off the drink How I wish I was sure That you too yearn for more Just a chance to reflect And work out what it meant But surely it is true That I'm nothing to you And that is fine you see For you're nothing to me Honest. © Max Carey 2008
