All the Wild Horses - Part Deux.

Logging on to GW again has encouraged me to look through my past posts and past writing notebooks. I found a poem in a notebook which I wrote few years ago as the second part to the poem 'All the Wild Horses' which I have already posted up on GW. So here it is!

I have found it very interesting looking back Ion work I have written and comparing it with work I am writing now.

All the wild horses,
Couldn't drag me back to you.

Although their hardened hooves
Left me black and blue,
My will was just to strong for them
My courage won through and through.

All the wild horses,
I tamed them in the end,
I really got to know them,
And they became my friends.

Now horses I see that they are not,
But beautiful beasts of dazzling white,
I ride upon their backs,
Up high on wings of dreams

I glide over the hill tops
And over majestic streams,
I soar into the azure sky
And play amongst the clouds

And when the night draws in
I know that you won't be around.
And I am safe and I am happy
In my new word of gilded gold

Because All the wild horses
Will never drag me back to you.

It appears to be a poem about healing and moving on - it has a very positive ring to it.

It made me think of one of those posters - fantasy, princesses, uniorns, etc.

Hi Brook - nice to meet you after all this time. I think your wild horses turn into Pegasi ... with good sound minds of their own that "will not" deliver you back to the wrong person. Nice touch.

Not a fan sorry...seems a bit clichéd ("dazzling white", "wings of dreams", "gilded gold"- how can gold be gilded?). The metaphor doesn't work for me either- the horses at first appear to represent the violence and repression of your partner, but then become an instrument of freedom. So how is it that the same instrument of your pain becomes the instrument of your happiness? It doesn't make much sense to me.
