He who is a friend Does not cling to his friendship, But is without fear.
He who is happy Feels no need to prove it, But just sips his tea. |
no need to prove anything... Written by mia_ms_kim (1057 comments posted) 18th March 2008 | I like this. I especially like the second haiku, and the last line. It like the way it 'shows' the quiet contentment. I like the way you say, the one who has the genuine article doesn't feel the need to prove it. I'm now getting the idea on converting the Korean old sayings into haiku's. Mia | Written by Fledermaus (3487 comments posted) 18th March 2008 | Thanks Mia. It's funny how some recent things in my life made me think about such things. It seems one can even be trying to hard not to try anything. so many paradoxes... | Written by Phil (6959 comments posted) 18th March 2008 | Particularly like the second too. I don't know if haikus were ever supposed to deliver a motto, but I think these work well. I too liked the second one better. | Written by Fledermaus (3487 comments posted) 19th March 2008 | Thanks Jean. | Written by andybyers (181 comments posted) 19th March 2008 | | The second haiku set me in a frame of mind that brought to memory a line Abe Lincoln once spoke: "The hen is the wisest of all the animal creation, because she never cackles till after the egg is laid." Something about the self-assuredness of true contentment comes through in that, and in your poem as well. | Written by Fledermaus (3487 comments posted) 19th March 2008 | Thanks Andy. Nice quote! |
