Walk Another Street
By Robru
19 March 2008

Written for a friend at a sad time in his life.

I stood there quietly grieving
My face was washed with tears
To farewell my only soulmate
Who I have loved for years.

She shared with me the joys of life
She shared with me the pain
We, both of us had troubles
Again and then again.

The love we shared was stronger
Than any problems we have had
We came through with shining lights
When things were really bad.

Now you have been called away
Your work on earth is done
I go home to an empty home
I'm the lonely one.

My time will come and I'll be called
And the cycle will be complete
I  look forward to  greeting you
When we'll walk another street.

Sad poem, but you have the faith to know that you will see her again. And you have so many happy memories of the good times. Not everybody has that. So think of what you had and not of what you've lost, and enjoy the deep love that you shared.

Very sad and moving but walks with a swing of hope in step and fond memory held until. An inspiring outlook well done! ;)

Thank you both for your comments. I shall be a poet one day.
Cheers and best wishes, Bob.

I really loved the title,it was such nice idea.
An honest sentiment and simply expressed; the best way, I think. I could empathise with it and was really touched by it.
I liked the fact you didn't try to be overly "poetical" in style and language. There was one line, though, that veered in that direction

"Again and then again."
It was a bit weak and felt written just as filler to make the rhyme.
Good work, though, brought a tear to my eye
