A Dream Come True
A few years past, we sailed away,
From all that we did know,
Off to a land we'd never seen,
A place where we could grow.
We dreamed a dream, of land and home,
Of happiness and peace,
Our children growing tall and strong,
Our dreaming knew no cease.
This land we found was wide and free,
With room for all our visions,
And as we lived and worked and strove,
We made the right decisions.
We travelled north in this great land,
We travelled south and west,
And finally we found our place,
And built our little nest.
A pretty spot in New South Wales,
Just on the mid North coast,
A hundred acres, (thereabouts),
With cows and hens and goats.
We learned to love our promised land,
To cherish all she stood for,
We learned to give as well as take,
And look towards the future.
The children grew and prospered well,
And learned to stand full free
( What greater gift can parents give,
Than personal liberty?)
We visited the `Old Country',
Where it had all begun,
And came back home to what we know,
Is our place in the sun.
The farm does well, the children care,
They visit when they can,
And bring with them new dreamers,
In our prolific clan.
The dream came true, we lived the life,
The one we knew was there,
And we can rightly take our ease,
And know we've done our share.
