What Am I?
By Josie
29 March 2008
Well, what do you think I am?

I work all day and never rest for you and all your friends
I'm up early in the morning and then sleep when your day ends.
I'm a lonely soul at night-time as I sleep under your bed.
I've a tongue, that's very certain, but not in someone's head.

What am I?

I've just been to look, Josie. There' no one /nothing asleep under the bed. I know what comes out in the morning - but you're far too proper for that.

Not yet, I hope, but perhaps later - or perhaps you have a bed which goes down to the floor and so it's not possible to put anything under it. Perhaps it's kept in a cupboard somewhere else? We'll definitely have to find out where you keep such things. Come on Phil. Lonely soul, although it has a friend.

Up North you probably still have ####pots under your beds? But with tongue?? Yuck!!!

A pair of shoes - a large snake (possibly the trouser variety) - the wife?
Not yet, I hope, but perhaps later

Not yet, I hope, but perhaps later - Josie, you're sounding decidedly frisky!

The prize goes to - - - -

Not strictly right Steve, but I think we can give you the prize. The answer is a shoe.

I think that was too easy. I'll think of another one, but harder next time.

As for Phil - his mind was in quite the wrong direction! Try again.

Ah, see. We don't have shoe in this part of Lancashire - just wellies. Us posh types don't put them under the bed - we line them up in pairs in the parlour. (Next to the umbrellas.)

How about this one:

What's pink and hangs out your grandad's Y-fronts?

Ah yes. His tie - rather a long one. Yes, his tie, naturally!

His bald head.

P.S. A trouser snake with a tongue? I clearly hadn't thought that one through!!

No. Your grandma - on washing day. Filthy minded pair.

Excuse me, but I said hislong tie. What's filthy about wearing a long tie? Bad man! Ship him back to the land of the rain.

Phil, I'll have you know that my grandfather had a bald head.
I know what you were thinking, you dirty #######!
