When I am old I will keep a dog
By lauthiamkok

When I am old and
you are gone
far away,
I will keep a dog,
to run
ahead of me,
to lead me
where to go,
to guide me
not to fall,
like you did when
I was young,
life was long.

Also to give you the love that goes beyond the love of human beings. We've always had dogs in our family, and my last one died 18 months' ago, but I miss her so. At the end of their life, don't forget, you lead them too. I hope someone will care for me when I need it.

I might be tempted to put an 'and' at the head of the last line.

I'm not sure the idea works for me. A dog instead of a life partner? Could be me.
