mai pen rai told war stories
that fell on deaf ears
my pen rai told of his pain
and of the missing tears
not for long did my pen write
for longer still I dread the night
when I too would have my sight
on war stories for deaf ears

your last line in this is very good, you should think about doing something with that line "war stories for deaf ears"
