My Mate Pete the Drunk
he had a head like a robbers dog,
big and ugly,
a face only a mother could love
that you could use to
scare the kids,
sure to give them nightmares.
Yet
He was a gentle man,
gentle in nature
gentle in heart,
he would share with
friends or strangers
what little he had.
In his simplicity
in his kindness
he was a beacon for humanity,
but he was ugly, ugly as sin
and in our modern age
where cosmetic beauty
is bought and sold
much like whores
he was oppressed by beauty. |

Bernie | Written by Josie (4035 comments posted) 30th March 2008 | | This links extremely well with what I wrote in the non-fiction side: "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder". We teach our children that ugly people are monsters, but it isn't true at all. Beware the good looking people and the beauties - there could be evil lurking even there. I believe that the Yorkshire ripper was a good looking man. A devil in disguise. | Hi Written by maipenrai (1005 comments posted) 30th March 2008 | Josie, thanks for your comments. No one cares about talent, or personality, but the package it comes in. Great work. | Hi Written by maipenrai (1005 comments posted) 27th April 2008 | and thank you for your comments, glad you liked it. Bernie |
