Catnip Candy Bars

For my feline friends

SNIFFING CATNIP, Oh what a thrill.
I can see my cats still.
When, just before saying goodnight.
I sprinkled some catnip.
Not knowing the darlings would strip.
I went to bed thinking of their resting souls.
They were at peace leaving my entrance hall whole.

Then in the morn, when I opened the door.
My eyes became sore...
A bucket full of water lay on the floor.
Papers and missiles everywhere.
Who could think, they would dare?

The little darlings had tripped.
After the catnip, they had sniffed.
Their manners they tossed aside.
And their feelings they could not hide.
No more catnip, no more.
No more raving for sure!
