Shallow angst
By punchy
30 March 2008

The torture and the pain I bear
I suffer so and no one cares
How can I climb from this despair
 Oh woe
A darkened blanket is the sky
Where is the light, oh how I cry
The tears they burn so I'll just sigh
 Oh woe
It's all gone wrong my life is doom
My future is a darkened room
They should have kept me in the womb
 Oh woe
Actually it's not so bad
I'll have some wine and then a fag
Followed by a lasting shag
 Way hey
And so the ride goes on and fast
How long can all this pleasure last
I reach my peak , oh this is vast
 Whoahhh
And now it's still , the fun is through
The happiness has made me blue
I feel so down, oh what to do
 Oh woe

Poetry is like pornography - according to Veronica. Getting warm PP. Getting warm! I'd rate this as titillation.

If it's a shallow dip..

you will feel angst. Wonderfully funny, as always.Something deeper next time? But keep your poetry frivilous all the same.
Cheers

Same issue addressed as some other did in a flood of poems yesterday, yet I like this approach better, as here it is done with humour AND it gives an example.
I personally think too much parody and meta-poetry can become just as distracting as too much angsty scribbling though.

Oh why write down
In clear words
When I can be arch, oblique and ob
tuse
I shout from the highest peak
of misery
but I will only hint
and therefore never
communicate.
I cry my angst-ridden soul
to the sky
but no-one listens
that's because
they can't make out
what the F***
I'm shouting about
because after all poetry
doesn't have to say
anything
nothing
at all
as long as the words
don't reach the
right hand
margin
that's
enough.
Isnt it?

Thankyou all.
As they say Brett " A shallow dip better then no dip at all" ;)
