Sigh.  this is a True Story.

FEEDBACK.

My father worked in Human Resources

In days when it was “Personnel”

He took a lot of training courses

No doubt he did his work quite well.

My education cost him dearly

He stumped up for my college fees

And he applauded me, sincerely

Graduating, BSc.

One day he said, in fit of bile

Imagine! – I felt quite surprised

“Employing women’s not worthwhile

They only cry when criticised.”

I, at twenty-seven, wiser,

Acidly, at once replied

“That says more of the criticiser

Than the woman criticised.”

Funny, yes, but absolutely right. What pleasure is there in making another person feel humiliated and unappreciated? This goes for people in all sexes and relates well to what we should put in poems and reviews. What fun is there is singling people out to make fun of them and to hurt them? None, as far as I can see, and to those who do it, it only reflects back on their own worthless character. To those who stand by and let them do it, without speaking up, they are just as bad, in fact worse, in my humble opinion.

well said Josie, and is as such with the two faced approach here - why today I have stripped my own work from this site - no offence caused by Josie mind!...Maybe those that shout loudest should think of how they say things as venom is poisonous and spreads rapidly....think for now I will stick with the sites where I am given constructive and helpful guidance along the way, as opposed to blatent ignorance and rudeness! Sorry to those of you whom are above all that!

Great poem, strong message and well put.
Love the last 2 lines, if only I could retort with such a reply when situations or comments have been spewed at I.
At least something positive came out of such a vile comment, he inspired your poetry.

I'm afrais I was quite rude to him. What I actually said was "that says more about you than it does about her". But it was righteous indignation.

Now I had better stop talking about criticism because AnaisAnais has just packed her bags because I told her I didn't understand one of her poems.
