The hanging portrait of a face well stood
The ages had passed it naught for good
The reason being it must have seemed
That all the while its time was deemed

To sway in the balance of a ricochet past
That comes to haunt me quick like the blast
Taking me back for fear or pleasure
Memories confirming repeated endeavor

Why did you ask me of love gone afar
When still that moment I carry the scar
Of farewells never bid and a tear well stout
Through a pain so deep my heart did rinse out

And so the words that are uttered
Seem to carry no weight
Only the music of your image
In my ear resonates

I got lost in the middle two of this but sort of found my way back in towards the end. In fact, really liked the last two lines. A clever idea that really does it for me.

Last line v. 3 didrinse out - read a little awkwardly.
