A Kiss
By msebastian08
03 April 2008
I dreamed of you, last night.
We kissed, chaste and like the first
So full of possibilities.
Then again and deeper, our tongues
Touching moist and soft.

And naked now, my hand caressed
Your neck, your small and perfect breast.
We danced the dance eternal, natural
Side by side in slow and perfect rhythm
Skin to skin and heart to heart.

Then after lying close and
Smiling, laughing, loving
Kisses soft and sweet
‘Til claimed once more by sleep.
Last night I dreamed of you

which is a good thing

well expressed -- an equally good thing

a trifle sentimental -- not such a good thing

but a nice mature change from the perpetual angst of which we get so much

Well done

I'm constantly amazed at romantic poems men write. There are not many male romance novelists. It is a genre dominated by female writers. But romantic poems - wow - I have to say men can really write them very well. I wonder if it is almost genetically wired in for males to woo females with songs. (Adam sang a poetic song when he saw Eve, according to the Bible. I thought that was interesting.)

I guess this poem borders the romantic and the erotic. I like the bracketing effect of the dream, starting and ending the piece, gives it a far more romantic feel. Interesting also, that you named the piece 'A kiss' when it actually is far more than a kiss. But I think it's an appropriate title as 'kiss' brackets the centre stanza of lovemaking, and you present it, I think, as the telling mark of true intimacy.

It's lovely to know men feel like this. I hope men write more romantic poems.
