Something I found that I wrote ages and ages ago...clearly on a day when I was feeling contemplative!

You know there are some days when feeling is enough:

When the clock on the mantel is a measure of happiness -

Because the happiness never fades.
And you know those days when the sky is cloudy,

But it doesn’t stop you smiling

Because that’s just how the day was made -

And then there are those people that you love too much,

And you’d give up feeling everything else

Just to feel empty with them…

Or those people who make you think too hard

About whether they’re real or right or wrong

For so long that they give up on you

And then you wish you’d had the chance

To accept somebody’s love that you couldn’t

Because you didn’t feel you deserved to.

You can think and watch the rain

And every drop has meaning,

Or you can sit and watch the sunrise

And just accept its being

You can open your eyes to everything

Until every sense is numb

Or you can cast aside your wasted doubts

Because the end will always come.

You know there are some days when feeling the whisper

Of a breeze on your cheek makes you come to life

Or the smell of cut grass

And others when you need a thousand positives

To feel fulfilled and whole again because you forgot

Things never last.

I really like some of your thinking in the poem, stellafly. In particular the third and fourth stanzas(ae) speak to me. They are evocative and charged with meaning.

What the whole poem evokes in me is the feeling that the speaker is remembering the 'breeze on your cheek' while right now needing the 'thousand positives'!

I have to agree with you about the differences in days, but while sometimes other human beings can be the cause, sometimes it just happens doesn't it?
