I Spy With My Little Eye

Think cads and bounders, think more, think serial killers.

I spy with my little eye...........
the filthy stench
of your pretense.
I stumbled in with less than
common sense.
Your guile exploded my defense.

Little piggy, won't you let me in?
Oh, radiant eyes with power
to hypnotise
and all the trust and sharing?
Lies!

"Who's been eating my porridge,
sitting in my chair," I said.
"Who's been sleeping in my bed?"
Another victim, easily led
by all the glamour she's been fed.
Sister, beware the wolf, the bear,
like me, you'll end up dead.

Boys and Girls come out to play
but please, oh please
let you be aware
of the foxy fox, the wily wolf, the bear.
They're waiting for you all
out there
your bones to crack, your meat to share.
Don't step on the cracks tonight............
beware!

Gosh, that's a powerful poem. With the combination of innocent children's rhymes and stories and the very grown up nastiness described, it really makes you think and worry.
Welcome to the Dark Side ...

Nicely done, Spiderbaby - where have you been hiding recently?:)

Reminds me of Uni lectures and the definitive work on Childrens' Rhymes (by Peter & Iona Opie) which pointed out the hidden darker references contained in (apparently innocent) nursery rhymes etc ....
