For Children
The Alien

Writen for my 14 year old brother

The last few days I’ve noticed

An alien stuck up my nose

I think, bad luck, he tried to suck

My brain out with a hose

Sometimes I feel him struggle

But then he’s stuck again

As I’m breathing sometimes

I hear him whine in pain

I can’t seem to dislodge him

With all my well-timed blows

The more I prod and poke him

The further up he goes

Everyday more thick green blood

Gets wiped upon my hanky

So pretty soon now he’ll fall out

All strangely formed and manky

I’ll put his rotten carcass

In a jar beside my bed

To show my friends an alien

Once lived inside my head

Emma - What a wonderful children's poem. Your brother must have been really impressed. It is, I am sure, exactly the sort of poem that children would like - especially boys. Girls might just say: Oooooh! and turn up their noses, but boys! Oh no!. Excellent. Do please continue writing poetry for children.
