or Poet Talbot! Ah, my Thomas,
beast and angel, madman.
Did you go gentle
or rage as you advised?
Hypocrisy,
that foul tasting tongue,
surely could
not have touched your lips
when you lay
unconscious? |

| Double Dylans Written by Brett (785 comments posted) 12th April 2008 | But this is plainly not too intellectual for you, Steve - you have seen right to the heart of it. Being the writer of Like a Rolling Stone, Knocking on Heaven's Door is all well and good for one Dylan - but managing such a calm exterior when plagued by that f*****g snail is another. Hats off to the rabbit. Cheers | Written by stevetroster (1549 comments posted) 12th April 2008 | Ah, Brett. Having guffawed greatly at your stately reply I could now go gently into the good night But I can’t find the switch that turns off this damn light. Ah, dear Brett. This old age does ravage me so at the close of day And tomorrow I must work, so I’ll rest now not play. Rage, rage, against the 12-tog duvet!! | stevetroster Written by Brett (785 comments posted) 13th April 2008 | Ah, Steve. I can't beat that one, mate - that's poetry. And I don't expect ever again shall I come upon a verse that rages against the tog rating of a duvet - sublime. Cheers | Written by Josie (2785 comments posted) 13th April 2008 | | I am sure he went gentle into that good night Brett, as we all have to. It's the coming into this world that might cause some raging, but babies don't know any more than we do what's ahead of them, any more than we do when we move on. More to the point, it is the living in this world with selfish people that causes even more raging. Still, I won't rant and rave now, but tell you that your poem is excellent in every way. | Written by Phil (6730 comments posted) 13th April 2008 | Initially, I was thinking John Thomas - not at all intellectual! (Beast, angel, madman...) Like this, Brett. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. ...perhaps. Loved the rhythms in this. They make a simple piece come alive. Phil
| Thanks, Phil Written by Brett (785 comments posted) 13th April 2008 | You are spot on - with the example of verse. Thank God it was not my John Thomas - I would not like to catch him in any flight, or fly, that would make me sing and I could kiss a son goodbye. Cheers, Phil. |
