On Losing a Lovingly Entwined Silver Ring in the Sea
By Katanga

Silver Dolphins

I met two silver dolphins

And each one smiled at me

And so I laughed with them and sang

And danced

And swam

And returned them to the sea
 . . .

Where do silver dolphins go

When they are wild and free?

Wherever it is we’ll never know

But they’ll never

Swim back to me.

Perhaps one day your dolphins will beach themselves on some lonely, distant shore. Maybe a man will spot them tumbling around with the seaweed in the surf, and pluck them up to give them to his lover. Then they'll tell their kids all about the day the dolphins came out of the sea to swim circles around their mom's finger.

'Awwwwww !' to you too! You seem to follow my tweely romantic thoughts exactly - thanks for this!

Do you know, I snorkeled for about five hours looking for that ring, and never found it. So I bought an identical one, which I am wearing now, but somehow it can never be the same.

You know the type of ring? It's split with a dolphin at each end, so that they seem to be nuzzling each other on the top of my finger.

I also have a silver Brontosaurus on a chain round my neck! Ha! Ha! :sigh
