this is a bit differnt to my usual posts, i wrote it last month after a friend of mine had something similar happen to her. this story contains a small amount of bad language and some things that younger readers should probably stay away from.
enjoy and leave me some comments so i can make changes in the future. You know, most girls wake up on a morning with only what to wear on their minds, at a push they may be concerned with when they could next see their boyfriend, or if they had enough money for that top they so desperately wanted, Dusk was not most girls. When Dusk woke up this one September morning all that was on her mind was how stupid she’d been. How could she have let this happen? She stared across the room the where her problem lay, she sighed heavily and gathered up her things. She couldn’t pull herself together here, it was the last place she needed to be.
Dusk left that house with her dark hair still sporting a messy slept on look, and her mouth tasted like something unpleasant had crawled into it and died. She met her Dad at the end of the street and jumped into his car. Her two year old sister was chatting away to herself in her car seat. This familiar scene was almost enough to cheer Dusk up, but it fell short and instead she felt merely ok.
When she got home Dusk immediately headed upstairs, when she reached her bedroom door she suddenly felt uneasy. She could hear breathing on the other side, Toni would be waiting for her, she’d want to know all about her night, and Dusk would have to smile and tell her she’d had a great time. Technically this was true, and that was partly the problem.
Toni and Dusk had been together on and off for as long as Dusk could remember, they were great together, they made sense, or at least they had done. They had broken up for so called good when they were 16, Toni had slept with somebody else two years previously and had a son. Dusk was mad, but she loved children and saw this as her chance at parenthood, so Toni was forgiven. They named their son Tyler. He was a beautiful baby with big blue eyes and lots of dark hair, Dusk immediately fell in love. Unfortunately Toni didn’t feel the same, she gave Tyler away when he was a year old, and there was nothing Dusk could do about it. Dusk tried so hard to forgive, Toni was a beautiful girl she was slim, tall, with chocolate brown hair and the most deep brown eyes Dusk had ever seen. She was smart, funny, and the two of them together had always seemed to work well. Now she was the daughter of Satan, a pure breed of evil with absolutely no redeeming features.
Dusk kept trying to forgive her for the best part of a year; she broke up with her a few times, but Toni still always waiting for her. Then one day, just as Dusk was warming to her again, Toni vanished. Nobody knows where she went, or what she did, or why she left, but a year later she was back, and after much persuasion Dusk had agreed to get back together. Things had gone ok, Dusk had grown fond of Toni, she cared about her deeply, but she couldn’t bring herself to love her. In time this may have changed, but Dusk had fucked up big time.
When Dusk opened the door her girlfriend stood before her, she’d been crying. She looked as if she was trying to be angry, but Dusk knew her well enough to know she was hurt. You see, the previous night Dusk had gone out with her friends, had too much to drink, and kissed a guy, it hadn’t meant a damn thing, but Dusk had immediately felt very guilty, she’d cheated , there were no excuses, and she knew Toni would find out, she just didn’t expect it to be so soon. Toni looked at her with watery eyes, the words “how could you” written all over her face. Dusk opened her mouth to speak but Toni stopped her “Don’t bother to make excuses, I can already tell what the truth is” this time Dusk got to speak “Toni it was nothing, I was drunk, I know that doesn’t really change anything, but you gotta believe me!, it was nothing!” Toni sat on the bed, a statement that this could go on a while “that’s not how Lara saw it, she said it wasn’t just once either, and a guy! Dusk what were you thinking? Not about me that’s for sure” Dusk sighed “I’m sorry” she said weakly, Toni’s expression suddenly hardened “when this was the other way round sorry wasn’t enough for you” she headed over to the window “bye Dusk” she said as she climbed out.
That was that, Dusk had lost the only girl that would ever love her, this bothered her more than she thought it would, and what was worse is that Toni hadn’t even known the whole truth, it hadn’t just been that one guy, and it was the other kiss that was bothering Dusk more.
After the incident at the club Dusk had felt upset, confused, and guilty. Her friends had calmed her down the best they could and Sarah, Jon and Dusk had all gone back to Sarah’s house for the night. After they had gone to bed Dusk still felt bad, then totally out of the blue, something bizarre happened that made Dusk forget that anything was ever wrong. Sarah appeared at the bottom of Dusks bed, her big blue eyes were the only thing visible in the dim light, before Dusk could question what she was doing there she was right next her, her face centimetres away from Dusks “I bet this will calm you down” She said before pressing her lips against Dusk’s, the kiss seemed to last hours rather than seconds and it left both girls gasping for air, breathing didn’t seem important as Sarah began the whole thing again. After the second equally breathtaking kiss Sarah simply gave dusk a half smile and said “better?” before disappearing back to her own bed. Dusk was no longer upset about kissing that guy, but she wasn’t exactly calm. Dusk didn’t get much sleep that night.
When Dusk woke the next day she looked across the room to Sarah who was fast asleep, dusk smiled fondly at her sleeping friend before she realized what she was thinking, Dusk would never be able to look at Sarah the same again. As she began gathering her things she kept replaying the kiss in her mind over and over again, Sarah slept totally unaware of the conflict she had caused in Dusks mind. Dusk wasn’t stupid, she knew the kiss had meant as little to Sarah as her kiss at the club had meant to her, she knew Sarah liked guys and would never think of Dusk as anything other that a friend, she knew that Sarah had kissed her partly to calm her down, and partly to get back at Jon for being so mean to her earlier in the night. Dusk sighed heavily and tried to blink her feelings away and think clearly, when this failed she gave up, things would never be the same again “oh crap” she said. |

You'll need to paragraph it so it's easier to read, I'm sure it was a copy/paste problem. I got as far as Toni giving away the baby and became rather confused as to whether Toni was a male or female. Of course reading on it becomes clear, So I'm not sure if you intended that or not. I'd love to read it again when it's revised. Best of luck!

I couldn't get further than a few lines in before simply stopping reading, but it's not just the layout. I think the punctuation needs some attention. A comma is not the same as a full stop. Give that some attention and you'll probably find you edit the story so it flows more easily, too. | Written by MMorris1989 (6 comments posted) 26th April 2008 | sorry about the paragraphing, i posted it in a rush as i only had a short while on the cumputer, i pasted it from Word and didn't realise all the paragraphs had gone. as for the punctuation i have always had a problem with that, and it is something i am trying to work on. I often used to get into trouble at school because of this, i always wrote with feeling, but i totally ignored the rules of spelling and punctuation. as you can see i have now put in the paragraphs, i no longer have the original as it is saved on another comuter, but i think they are more or less where i originally put them. thank you for your comments. |
