What did we Learn, my Love? |

Here's a simple ditty - part of a longer song - that tries to show the tension between freedom and constraint in the act of falling gently (suddenly, resentfully, reluctantly?) in love . . . Well, it's bedtime! Awwwww! (for Merioneth - Respect!)
Sentimental? Yes! Scans? No! But I promise you it scans when I get the old guitar out . . .
Cheers! John.
What did we Learn?
We learned to love quite freely
Just as wings are free to fly
But you know it's true that I
Could no more leave you now
Than a bird
Could ever leave the sky

Is there more to the song then - is this just the chorus? | Hey, Veronica! Written by Katanga (1229 comments posted) 23rd April 2008 | Yes, there's a bit more. but it doesn't seem to work as poetry, which is why I've left it out - here's a snippet: Lie down softly now And let your dreams take flight Fly with them far into this dark and gentle night . . . We learned to love quite freely Just as a bird is free to fly And I could no more leave you now Than wings . . . Could ever leave the sky. Etc etc (Well actually, that's about it!) Do you play guitar? If so, I could supply the chords, but I can't transcribe proper music I'm afraid! Another hippy dreamer . . . Yo!
