Unloved
Unaware
Unsure of it all
Afraid to step out
In case of a fall

Untidy
Unclean
Unable to tell
If the adult in me
Will come out of its shell

Vulnerable in its simplicity, evokes compassion in the reader. This is something most people can relate to at some level. But I have a feeling it is not the adult, but the child in the adult, who has to be drawn out of the shell with gentleness, love and compassion. A touching piece.
