I'm looking from my window in the darkness of the night,

Trying hard to see a tree that is just out of my sight,

Knowing in the branches tangled up around a twig,

Is the body of my youngest daughter's smallest Guinea Pig!!

It's not supposed to be there and I don't know why it died,

But I didn't want the body coming anywhere inside,

So I asked a local lad who I thought was very strong,

Just to throw it in the field for the foxes to feed on!!

As I watched him walking slowly from the field up to my place,

I didn't need to see the dismal look upon his face,

Nor did I want to hear the dreadful words that I had feared,

The throw just wasn't good enough, the trees it hadn't cleared!!

So I'm staring through the darkness now to see if it's still there,

Hoping that some creature has it tucked up in it's lair,

Yet I know I'm being stupid and my luck wont run that way,

That my kids will see it hanging there when comes the light of day!!
