I wish!!!

You're going to get to know me well!!!

"Now get an education, dear." Her Mother always said,

"You don't want to be spending your whole life inside that bed!"

"Yes I do." She mumbled from beneath the counterpane,

"And I'll stay here even longer if you shout like that again!"

But bleary eyed she dressed herself and staggered down the stairs,

And satisfied her anger giving Mother evil glares.

She dragged her heavy rucksack all the way to the school gate,

She wasn't good at timekeeping and always got there late.

Yet twenty-five years later she is lazing in her bed,

Writing on her laptop all the stuff inside her head.

She's a maid to do the housework and bring up all her food,

And a Nanny who is fighting to control her growing brood.

Her husband works in finance and he gives her all his money,

As she writes about her childhood days which people think are funny.

When her Mother comes to visit she sits drinking cups of tea,

Oh she really is quite lucky, how i wish that she were me!!!

really liked your poem. Nice little story. Reads well. Ironic, humourous and vibrant. Clear beginning adn ending - and quickly grasped the essence. Engaged me and didn't lose interest - I usually fail to reach the end of poems unless they get to the point quickly. Well done! :grin
