A Muse Called Alice
By Katanga
27 April 2008

A bit of an in-joke, this one - apologies to you if you're reading this out of context.

Please see Brett's 'In the Vale of Clwyd' and subsequent reviews and links to get the idea.

Yes, Veronica - thanks to you, I have found my Muse and learned her name. Now I have to develop our relationship, though the course of true love ne'er did run smooth.

Brett - I do not take your name in vain! Respect! Yo!

Obvious (I hope), allusions in the title to Nevil Shute's novel, 'A Town Called Alice' and even Paul Weller's song which mentions 'A Town Called Malice.'

More seriously (?), I guess we all have a kind of relationship with a 'Muse' and they're barren and depressing times for us when she goes AWOL.

Cheers! John X

A Muse Called Alice

You know what really annoys me?
What actually almost destroys me?
It’s when you’re away
On holiday
Oh Alice! My Muse who employs me!

Every day
When you’re away
I perspire, drink and fret
Will you come back
With poetic attack
Or should I seek help from Brett?

Oh, excuse me!
Just amuse me!
Please forgive the pun!
Don’t confuse me!
Simply use me!
You’re my only One!

Feel like I'm gate-crashing a private party, here. Liked the rhyming, though.

Alice lives on.

Good, lively rhythm.

See above for her history. You could go visit when you're dry. I'm sure Brett knows the place.

Ignore Phil's advice - Brett is not aware of anywhere dry!

Like it, John. 'Will you come back with poetic attack...'
nice line.

Cheers mate.

Hi Bernie!

No, I;m not living next door to Alice, as it happens.

She shares my bed and is in my head!

She's sometimes very loving, but my Goodness, when she's on the attack (and cheers, Brett!), I have sleepless nights and wish she would move next door!

Glory! What am I on about?! XXX

Is Alice still alive?
In existence, Alice?
I thought her name
was uttered by mistake
'Alice', stark and unashamed,
her amusing muse-like rain
falling accidently,
somewere in Wales.

I see she has inspired you all to greatness. Katanga, that's a very nice rhyme scheme you have going there.

Somehow I imagine her like Ness in "Gavin and Stacey" - a fearsome Celtic goddess with a terrible temper. She Who Must Be Obeyed.

Tidy.
