Phil asked:

So why, for all his perfect form,
Did Angelo ignore the norm -
Carve body beautiful and fine
But knob too small to want as mine.

This has to be read AFTER Phil's David.

The reason Michael carved it small?
He didn’t fancy girls at all.
He left it with a little end
so as to get it Round the Bend.

And as for that post modern chap
whose belly hangs upon his lap!
We girls think he’s the one who’s silly.
we cannot even FIND his willy.

Are you telling me that Michael liked boys?

You'll be working for the BBC next!

Enjoyed. :grin A pretty quick reply.

Quick, but not pretty, I think. There's no absolute proof about Buonarotti's preferences but he certainly wrote a lot of poems about, or to, other chaps. (Wot, a poet as well? are none of us safe?)

Hey, you live and learn. I always thought it was first name Michael, surname Angelo; not Michaelangelo Buonarotti. My ignorance knows no bounds!

Having seen a lot of his line drawings in an exhibition a few years ago, I can reveal from inspection, that all the women he drew had men's buttocks on them.

Veronica, I bow to your personal observation :) I think I saw a TV programme that said more or less the same thing - that his female faces and bodies were in fact male.
Fascinating!

Personally, I remain unconvinced that buttocks alone can be solely genderly assigned . . . For me, schoolboy that I am, it's what lies beeath that counts:

L'Arc de Triomphe

Whoops! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on.

I weep!

Please excuse me!

Respect!

I , like Stephen , would prefer to write my name on the buttock of the Venus de Milo -- and she couldn't slap me for doing it !!!

A lovely reply!

John - If you saw my buttocks on a lady. you'd soon know about it!

Sorry, Sue!
I ponder!

. . . in all manner of ways. Hmmmmm!

Nothing else to say, except sometimes idle pondering isn't all bad!

This subject is really getting funner each poem Sue. Read my review at the end of Phil's poem. Nowadays girls have studied it well before they get married it seems.
You have me in stitches!
