Hello my many fans
Well I have at least three here's my next master piece.
Going off Is the name us precious few ,we happy band of brothers.
That is Parkinson's disease sufferers or to shorten P.D.S's.
I'll get back to the point Going off is the term used when we are between
doses of medication and our movement is restricted, not that we are out date and been kept on the shelf to long. Mind you my husband said I was passed it long before being diagnosed
On a serious note if theirs anyone with Parkinson's who would like to talk to someone please get in touch, I 'm not totally mad not yet any way.
GOING OFF
Oh dear what a catastrophe
Something gone wrong
with my brain's activity
It's gone to war
With earth's gravity
So here I am
Stuck to the floor
Can't move through the door
What a too do
What can I possible do
My brain' releases special forces
To span it's bridges and
Tackle assault courses
Special forces are defeated
Because it's ranks are depleted
So I'm still stuck to this floor
Next to this bloody door
What left for me to do
I don't know do you
I'll try once more
To get through this blasted door
No I'm still here stuck to floor
What more can I do
I'm sick of this aren't you too
"Send for new recruits"
My brain does hollows
So I pop my pills and swallow
My brain get a rush
Special forces gives a final push
As its ranks gets repleted
Gravity is defeated
The war is now passed
I'm free at last
Well for now at least
I know the word should be replenished
but I couldn't make that rhyme anyway that is how I talk ha! ha!
Hope you all enjoy

| Are you frightened of spiders? I'll send Susie the spider from the children's section, for spiders usually make me move fast. My goodness, what a predicament you've got yourself into. I'm so glad you're now up and away again. |

I didn't think Parkinson's was something you got yourself into,it's something that happens to you. My uncle had it in later years. I think this is an astonishingly well written insight into this disease. You've managed to do it with detachment and wit which makes it much more accessible to the layperson. I can imagine it must be difficult to be put this across in such an articulate way. cheers jane |

Be strong, Violet, like your poem. Yes, as with Josie bove, what a predicament. Mind you, your husband sounds like a great man, judging by your previous poem. I think you said there were three coming? I look forward to the next! Cheers! John X |

With the above reviewers! Wow. What an insight into parkinsons. And what a way to do it, with humour and wit. The fight with gravity was an eye-opener. So it's something that can be managed with medication? I'm so glad. And what a brave woman you are, Violet! You seem like ten strong men and women rolled into one. Keep writing! Mia |

Thanks you seem quite a fan but I am not brave I am the same as most. You do what you do to survive ,my Mother didn't leave me gold or silver just stubbornness. When I was a child and been beaten, not by my mother understand I just wouldn't back down so maybe I own my tormentors something for my survival skills. not to mention two years with a counselor. I just may write my life story someday puts Catherine cookson's in the shade. have I wet your appetites coming soon in a shop near you and its all true sorry there go's my sence of humour again back to the counselor go I BYE VIOLET |

I don't know a lot about Parkinson's but now you've given me a real insight. I hate to think what happens if the pills aren't to hand when this happens. I liked the humour, and the metaphor with the special forces worked well. Ben |
