The perils of sleeping with all the windows open.
THREE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING HAIKU
In the woods, deer bark.
How else to find each other?
Our night is restless.

I hope you didn't write this at 3 am Veronica | Written by Veronica_Milvus (455 comments posted) 10th May 2008 | | I did, I am sad to say. | Written by Phil (6387 comments posted) 10th May 2008 | Deer bark? Can they lick their own backsides too? Sorry - never knew what sound a deer makes - in fact I only saw my first wild deer last week - only a mile from where I live. Didn't hear anything. Round here it's geese. I know they honk, but at 3am it sounds more like a braying chorus. Liked the Haiku BTW. Phil | Title Written by beatricelouise (202 comments posted) 10th May 2008 | Hi Veronica, I may be wrong, but I thought haiku's don't have titles. I will have to look that up somewhere to be sure. Keeping the windows open at night is a good idea if you don't mind not sleeping the night away. | Written by Veronica_Milvus (455 comments posted) 10th May 2008 | | You are probably right about not having titles, Bea. And Phil, they are Chinese Muntjak deer. Solitary little beasts, drab coloured, live in woodland. In the mating season (which is every 7 months for some bizarre reason) they have no choice but to yell out to see if there is anybody interested out there. But why do they do it at night? | Written by Phil (6387 comments posted) 11th May 2008 | | The deer equivalent of doing it with the lights out? |
