"The King of Mineo has died. We, the nation of Ladorn, wish for King Gorh of Amurih to lead our procession in his burial."

The messenger read the royal slip out loud in the hall of Amurih Castle. All the captains of Amurih were there with King Gorh. There were five of them. The oldest of them was skilled in archery named Nao. The champion of sorcery and magic was Genon. The strongest one was Yile. The agile and quick one was Tom. Then the one who was the right hand man of King Gorh was none other than the wise man Hutem. The messenger quietly stood to hand the slip into Hutem's hands. Hutem confirmed with a nod that the paper had the royal seal when he put his hand on top of the seal making it sparkle.

"Alright, let us now go," King Gorh ordered.

He was very sad indeed for his dear friend Mineo yet this would only bring sorrow to his kingdom. Menalay, Mineo's son, now had Mineo's kingdom, Ladorn, and was definitely coming here to conquer Amurih also. That boy was so kind and innocent once long ago. King Gorh shook his head. How sad indeed.

Nao, Genon, Yile, Tom, and Hutem walked along with King Gorh in the lead. As they reached the messenger, King Gorh took out his sword swiftly and stabbed the messenger. The messenger's face was one of surprise before he fell into the ground clutching onto a knife meant for the king in his dead hands.

King Gorh had just opened the door to the outside when a piercing laugh came. The echoes of the voice resounded against the walls and their ears. Today in this dark night was sadly a fog denser and more silent than any other before. They all stepped carefully outside into the foggy night. After the laughter faded away, the sound of men fighting became apparent. The cries of death were all around. They had already begun their attack!

"Hurry! Go and save as many people as you can," King Gorh shouted to the five captains. They all readied their weapons ready to rush into battle but they suddenly stopped. Coming out of the dense fog was a man on a horse. His dark red bloody cloak waved around his form. His long raven dark hair spilled all the way to his waist covering a patched eye. His body was larger than normal human beings. His muscles bulged out of his dark black and red clothes. It was Menalay. His wicked evil grin appeared.

"Uncle Gorh, there's no need to rush. Come on; let's have a little fun here. You and me," he said softly. Then he smirked, grinned, and finally laughed. King Gorh realized that he was unable to save Menalay anymore. The feeling of evil he hadn't felt in a long time, today he again felt. It was Collins.

King Gorh didn't know when Collins was resurrected but this was bad. It wasn’t just bad for only Amurih, but for the other eighteen kingdoms left in the land of Ameri.

King Gorh roared. "Get the others and leave," he said to the five captains. "I," he readied himself," will defeat this man here."

Nao had his bow ready to strike. "Let me kill him, my King. You should go away."

"No," King Gorh whispered. "He will not die by a mere arrow. Only this sword made by Amurih will have a chance to kill him. He… has already sold his soul to Collins."

The five captains were in deep shock. For someone to sell their soul to Collins would only mean they were desperate or was a follower of evil. So this was as far as the captains could go. Only King Gorh might have a chance to kill him even though it was a very slim chance at that.

"Take care then King Gorh," Hutem gently replied. He silently bowed his head down and the rest followed suit. The rest softly whispered the same and then they were all gone as fast as the wind.

Menalay smirked down upon King Gorh.

"You old fool; do you think you could actually win me? If you already know that I have already given my soul to Collins, then why would you fight me?"

"Like I said, this sword has a chance to kill you."

"Hm.... I was going to just let you surrender peacefully to us since Collins wanted me to keep all this quiet so that the other kingdoms would not know that he was resurrected, but I guess I’ll have to use force to keep you quiet.”

Menalay took out his long gleaming black sword by the side of the horse. He jumped out of the saddle onto the ground. He raised his long thin sword in a fighting stance. King Gorh raised his broad white sword, ready to strike also.

As they drew their weapons, the heavens thundered down on the earth. After the last rumbling was heard and the lightening was seen, they both rushed towards each other. The two swords met; light versus dark. As they clashed, the sparks of the two exploded. The two wielders jumped back.

They rushed into each other again. This time King Gorh pressured his sword onto Menalay, but the younger man had the advantage of strength. King Gorh was pushed down and had to step back quickly. Menalay started to attack viciously, pounding on the sword again and again. King Gorh could only try to block it as best he could.

Menalay was laughing with joy with each strike he dealt. King Gorh waited for his chance to strike. The boy has never found the patience needed to battle. As the strikes continued, King Gorh guided where Menalay's sword dealt now. When Menalay tried to stab him in the left, King Gorh moved to the right, hit Menalay’s sword away from his body, and then pressured Menalay to move back. The technique learned from King Gorh's early days was never wasted. It was impossible for Menalay to kill him if he couldn’t touch King Gorh.

Menalay strikes were slowly delayed for a few seconds now but those few seconds were enough for King Gorh to attack. The second before Menalay dealt his strong blow, King Gorh lifted his sword seconds quicker quickly thrusting his sword right into Menalay's head right in the left eye. Menalay has surely improved with his agility. It made King Gorh smile.

Menalay was able to avoid the sword but King Gorh was still able to nick him in the side of his face. Menalay took a quick step back quickly. He panted harshly and King Gorh could tell that he was losing his patience. It was exactly what King Gorh wanted. If someone is unable to think straight, then it would be much easier to control them. King Gorh took a quick strike to Menalay’s left side to provoke him. It worked.

I liked the pace of the piece but would have liked to find out what the outcome was. However as this is Ch1 I presume the mid air ending is to whet the readers appetite and will await what follows. There are a few typos e.g Menalay for Menalay's in Menalay strikes were slowly delayed...

But typos are hard to avoid and easy to correct, and are easiest spotted by another's eyes.

I enjoyed this. Thanks for the read
