Critical Cat

My cat keeps walking, or strutting,

All over my book

Puncturing my jottings, my writing

He doesn't care to look -

He can't read - he's a cat.

He doesn't even like me that much

But for now he wants my undivided attention

Well instead he's got a mention.

I wonder, will paper thin poetic immortality

Affect his nine lifetimes guarantee?

As I push him off the book

He flicks me a prehistoric look.

We never could be friends,

But you might have learned so much.

Some advice I will give, and hope you'll take. Some of us have bought or borrowed Stephen Fry's book "The Ode Less Travelled". It is light and interesting and would help you quite a lot I think. One other tip: Poems typed in single spacing with double between verses are more appealing to the eye. You would be surprised how much better they really look. Hope this helps as you asked for criticism and this is help. Good luck.
