Stupid Girl

Just a poem I wrote about how I felt
one day in class. It's a bit rough but, channels my feelings and thoughts well.

It's no one's fault,
But mine.

I should have known better.
Why couldn't I just stay away from you?
Don't lie,Don't answer,
I don't even wanna know why.

I am not perfect,
I have many flaws.
I used to think you were perfect,
But now I see I was wrong.
Pay no attention,
Go off and run.

My anger is being bottled up,
I cry one moment and laugh the next.
I am so sorry,
My mister Hyde is showing.
I can't hate you for long,
Seeing you makes me happy,
I smile every time, every day.
I just couldn't stay away

I am a stupid girl.

Rough yes, as the poets on this site will tell you. But I really like it. There's something I really love about poetry that's raw, probably because that's the way I usually write "poetry", or it was anyway, and it always strikes a chord with me. I used to just let the words come out with little thought for anything else. I still do to an extent, though I try to write more with things such as metre and structure in mind. Emphasise on the word try lol.
I think the thing about raw poetry is there is no restriction on what you want to express, the result is usually something which is honest and pure. And for me, this is what this is. You get a good feel for the narrator's angst and confusion and "love" and all the other mixture of feelings so abundant amongst adolescent attraction.
And the last line I really like. Stupid maybe, but if it is stupid then most teenagers are stupid because these are feelings most feel though some do not. For me it ended it well, a lot of room for interpretation.

why do you say that you are stupid ? I don't think you are if you write like this ! It really expresses you feelings and yes is rough is fells really like sandpaper being read out load as a poem.
