For Children
The Beastly A to Z
By Katanga
15 May 2008

I had great fun putting this together!

It's supposed to be read to children at bedtime - hence the ending.

Probably give the poor lambs nightmares - Ha! Ha!

It's pretty 'rough around the edges' and will doubtless need polishing, so any of your suggestions are very welcome indeed!

Cheers!

John

The Beastly A to Z

A is an Ant Eater
B is a Bee Keeper
C is a Cat Lover. Who
Among these
Pray tell me please
Will I find in a cage at the zoo?

D stands for Dog Walker
E? Elephant Stalker!
F is a Frog Catcher, so
Hide under a log
If you are a Frog
Or he'll catch you, don't you know?

G is a Goose Minder
H is a Horse Rider
I is an Insect Spy -
The James Bond of Ants
He'll hide in your pants -
Best watch out for him, you and I!

J is a Jay Walker
K? Kangaroo Sorter
L is for Larry the Louse -
If you don't take care
He'll live in your hair
And go for long walks round your house!

M is a Man Eater
N is a Nit Picker
O? An Orangutan Washer!
He'll scrub and he'll scrub
With a rub-a-dub-dub -
Good Golly! Gosh and Ooer!

P is a Prawn Taster
Q is a Quail Baster
R is for Roger the Rabbit
He'll nibble your toes
And Goodness knows
How he ever got into that habit!

S is for Snail Cooker
T? A Tarantula
U is for Uncle Tom Cat
Don't give him your fleas
I'm begging you please -
He would never fancy that!

V is for Viper
W? Wasp
X? No creature I know.
But if you know better
X the first letter?!
Let's put this rare Beasty on show!

Y is for You and only You
Z is for going to bed.

So nighty night - sleep tight!
I hope none of these beasties
Will give you a fright!

Cute, and mad. Orangutan washer? And what is a Kangaroo sorter? Really fun, very enjoyable.

Yes, I can see you have had a lot of fun putting this together John. I think children would love this, and you could have it in a book with pictures opposite each verse depicting the creature. I don't think any of the beasties will frighten them, but what will keep them awake is trying to think what beast starts with an X and "You've cheated. Uncle isn't a beast" - - but perhaps he is. ha ha Well done.
Uncle Tom's Cabin!

Ha! Ha! yes! Thank you both!

Josie - yes, I was pretty stuck on the letter 'U'.

So, 'Uncle Tom Cat' is supposed to be an association with the novel 'Uncle Tom's Cabin'.

Hmmmmm?

Cheers!
