Chew Toy
By pixyfire
26 November 2005

Written from personal experience in my own life..

I am your chew toy.

Your tooth torn, game worn,

Soil stained plaything.

I'm your favorite.

I am perfect.

You love the way I squeal

When you step on me.

And how my castanet brain

Creates a delightful clatter.

You whip me around

And shake me until my cotton head reels.

I am drenched in your spittle,

And pocked by your teeth marks.

Some might say

"He sure does love his toy."

When you're pummelling me.

Finally you slam me against the wall

And I slide down slowly

To rest in the corner.

Forgotten and lonely,

Yet grateful for peace.

Until someone picks me up.

Until anyone else wants to play with me.

Then here you come,

Launching back like a torpedo.

Growling at my new playmate,

So you can own me again.

Ah, together once more.

I'm happy at first,

Maybe this time its different.

But here we go again.

You gnaw at my long ragged ears,

My fluffy tail a few strands strong.

One eye is gone,

One foot is torn.

But I'm just the same to you.

I am being ripped apart,

And one day soon,

When you come back for me,

nothing will be there.

This is great fun. Anyone who has watched a young child batter a toy can relate to it. But I am wondering if you had another deeper meaning when you wrote it.

Heh yeah there is a deeper meaning behind it, it's referring to the way an old boyfriend treated me. He often toyed with me by breaking up with me several times and then later begging me back whenever I would start to move on.

Lovely - a very witty poem as well as one that's full of deep emotion. You manage to stay just on the right side of cynical too! ;)
