Partington Pete goes a rambling
By maipenrai

another daft one using the name of areas in ManchesterSmile

Partington Pete
more commonly known as
Pete the Drunk
was stepping out gaily
up on Stepping Hill.

In there Jack D wisdom
the night before
Pete and his mates
Miles Platting, Newall Green and
little Ann-Coats
bosted on how they
would climb the famous four and
still be home for tea.

The following morn
bright and early they ventured out
into the howling wind and rain,
most folk would have gone back to bed
but not our hero's,
bravely they started up Stepping Hill,
each and every step a step of pain
but their reward on reaching the top
was to gaze upon the wonder of
Clayton Brook, well a gaze is but a gaze
so they caught the stagecoach to
Crumpsall Green and then down to
Cheetham Hill, where the folk have very
Strangeways, well it was a doddle
that Cheetham Hill and at the top they
stopped for jam tarts and pickled egg and
of course some Jack D,
next in line was that Shude Hill
where folks are very clever and how they
cheered and cheered when our intrepid
ramblers appeared, it was hard was that
Shude Hill but not as hard as Pete and his mates,
when all was done and dusted they got 256 to down
Stretford Way and climbed the mighty Gorse Hill,
it was hard very hard as they took those
last few steps on the way to becoming legends,
for they had climbed the famous four and now
as they gazed across the Fallowfield and smelt
the curry mile down Rusholme way
they were content

And well they should be.

A few pints in The Welcome and then a huge curry. Just the way to finish off such an exhausting day.

For your next piece, there's a little known area of Radcliffe/Little Lever known as Nob End. A change of theme perhaps? :grin
