Rough Justice?
By Katanga

The below is pretty much according to the facts.

Regardless of my inner morality, I confess that I was furious.

Hence my offering . . .

If it's too much in anger (the swearing is verbatim), then I shall delete it.

I trust you as my jury . . .

Thre's a virtual poetical cocktail here, or a pint of the finest if preferred, for the first person to spot the Dylan line!

Ho!

Cheers!

[Exhausted] John X

The Reluctant Juror

A woman stood in the witness box
Nervous as you would be
Gave her evidence word by word
As if she were you or me

One juror found her painful, slow
And whispered loud to all
“She fucking drags on, doesn’t she?”
He was heading for a fall

He bought a luminous watch quite cheap
Showed it to all of us
“I’ll time the silly bastards –
Why bother with all this fuss?”

The judge he cast his robe aside
Glared at our jury man
“Report to me in my chambers
Quick as ever you can!”

Our man he got a dressing down
As he bloody well deserved
A notice of ‘Contempt of Court’
On him was justly served

“What has become of him now?” you ask
You have a right to know –
He’s rotting in a cell right now
Justice was ever so

“My building trade’s gone bust!” he cries
But he can go to Hell –
What pride has he got left to boast?
I think we know too well

Oh dear! What a terrible shame. I feel that in all walks of life, wherever it is, that if you have not got TIME to give to another human being for whatever reason, then you need to ask yourself why on earth you are living on this planet. This may be a serious offence in a courtroom, but do people all day, every day, not have time in their lives to listen to other people, to encourage them or show them any love? If you haven't done it today, think of someone you know who might welcome a phone call, just to say "I'm thinking of you and how are you?" and give them time to answer.

I'll claim my free pint -

"The Judge he cast his robe aside"

Enjoyed this.

I have a little sympathy. It may be a part of our great 'democracy' but I have no wish to ever be a juror.

Still, someone has to do it, I suppose.

He probably got more severely punished for contempt of court than the defendant - for whatever he/she had done.
