My Shed
By Robru
31 May 2008
It has been said that everyman should have a shed - I wonder. For me its a must.

                    Every man should have  a shed,
                    A private place to go.
                    Somewhere to work or play;
                    Which? No one need know.

                    Come right on in to my shed,
                    That's where I like to be,
                    Doing little fix-it jobs
                    For Lis - some friends - or me.

                    I fix the things from in the house
                    That break from wear and tear.
                    I store all my garden tools,
                    'Cause I can find them there.

                    I take my time for now i'm old,
                    I do things so much slower.
                    And really, much too often
                    I have to fix that cranky mower.

                    There is no door upon my shed,
                    Just a great big open space,
                    So I  can sit in a  comfy  chair
                    And feel the sun on my face.

                    There's another chair, and a box or two,;
                    So join me if you wish.
                    There's no water in the river,
                    So the talk won't be of fish.

                    I love the life of a farmer;
                    There is always  work to do;
                    But then, there's time to stop
                    And have a yarn with you.;

I love the idea of the personal space for what one wants to do, symbolised by the shed. I'm sure it's a very real shed you are talking about here. I think every man should have one. (My hubby would love to have one, I know.) I'd love to have a space like that for myself, have coffee, do my own thing whatever it is. I'd love to entertain friends there with a cup of coffee. But I wish the river was full of water, so it's not so dry.

What a lovely relaxing poem - I feel I've enjoyed a minute out of real rest.

Thank you Mia, it is a real shed and there is an old rocking chair to sit on and just chat or have a cuppa or maybe something stronger if you wish, The rocking chair is there to be renovated at some time soon, then I shall find another chair to take its turn in the shed. I enjoyed your short visit. Stay a little longer next time.
