The sensitive grape
When paid tender attention
Is most flavoursome.

Erotic!

Was it Keats who wrote about the sensuous experience of crushing grape between toungue and palate?

I view the grape as a young maiden, but then I would, wouldn't I?

Really like it and am tempted to have a go!

Cheers!

Either him or that cretin off Crackerjack!

Cheers

who was it who said

"ooh - I could crush a grape!"

Not to denigrate your haiku to the flourishing vine.

That cretin! I don't know his name.

Cheers

Don't know the Crackerjack fellow.

V. - was that our friend Frankie Howerd?

I strongly suspect as much!

Ha!

Cheers!

No, Tolstoy - the 'crush a grape' herbert was the Crackerjack cretin!
Even our Frankie wouldn't go that low!

Cheers
Stu Francis!
Written by Katanga (1537 comments posted) 1st June 2008
Just googled it and it was Stu Francis - never heard of him, consciously.

But didn't Frankie H. say 'Call me Francis, well why don't you?' or some such, which might account for some errant 'cling-clang' association in my feeble subconscious?

Still like your Haiku BTW!

Cheers!

It's Friday, it's five to five and it's Crackerjack. The answer is: Stu Francis. Not my favourite entertainer - in fact 'cretin' is generous.

Like the weeping man said - sensuous. Liked it.

I think our posts crossed, John.
Max Bygraves . . .
Written by Katanga (1537 comments posted) 1st June 2008
. . . it was, my further research reveals, who said at the age of 85 and evidently frail,

"I feel so strong I could crush a grape!"

Stu Francis presumably nicked the line?

Dunno! My chronology may be well out here!

Cheers!

Thank fuck for that! Sorry I was flippant regarding Crackerjack cretins! And Bygraves aswell now!
Jesus!

It's me weeping, mush! Stone me.

Cheers, lads, at least I can sleep tonight.
I'm ashamed...

...that I remembered the grape-crushing line, even without provenance, and caused a flurry of crackerjack references, and a naughty word from the mouth of our Welsh bard.

A bit to much of the pinot, perhaps?
