Wall of Bricks

To review or not to review? That is the proverbial . . .

No malice meant in this (Oh Alice!) - just a widdly frustration at not having time to review all the good work out there that I want to.

Ha! I may withdraw it in good time . . . It's just to say goodnight . . . to all my friends . . . (a bit sentimental?)

The rhymes are clumsy, the meter loose - but I'm your endlessly Fryless goose!

Ho!

Cheers!

John X

A Wall of Bricks

One work hits like a can of bricks
Another like a wall of worms
Which to review?
I’m asking you
Guilt inside me squirms . . .

The story of the box of frogs
Got me all agitated
God knows it wasn’t me they meant –
‘Totherwise I’d feel frustrated!

“I need to sleep!”
Says my sensible head
My other ‘No, go on!
Rise from your comfortable lonely bed

Deliver your message recklessly
Whether you are right or wrong!”

I struggle on, I try to choose
‘Tween profound and quite banal
At break of dawn I realise
I just can’t do them all . . .

So please forgive me if I’ve missed
A work you hold so dear
I probably rate it just so clear
It’s just that I’m so pissed . . .

Forgive us all that try to share
Among us what we love
A time will come when starlight
Is all that’s written above.

I like this. "can of bricks" vs "wall of worms"? What a gentle and witty way to comment on much of our efforts!

I loved the way you finished it.

I found it breathtaking. You do have a way with words that's beautiful and romantic, John.

Have a lovely rest.

I also feel guilty not being able to review everyone work my excuse is that I just get so physically tired and also there's quite a few which I am sure are very intellectual but am not able to understand I love the way you are able to put things in simple terms

I like this one, it kind of made sense in strange sort of way, but then again I am a strange kind of man

You and your box of frogs!

I always like to get a review from you, Tolstoy, but it distresses me how much weeping you do!
Oh, the irony

I haven't got enough time to review everything and yet you expect me to review a poem about not having the time to review poems, well I'm not going to fall for that one.

Yes. nice one, Nathan, there's really not much to add to that.
But I did like the last verse

Oh ho ho ho!

I nearly deleted this - jolly glad I didn't. Thank you both so much!

Rob - don't fall for my proffessedly innocent tricks, please. Others out there deserve your time - sincerely meant, although of course I love getting a review from your good self any time of night or day, when the Sun or the Moon or the Stars or even the Mermaids come out to play . . . Ha!

Jane - Cheers! The last stanza was the only bit I liked too, and allowed me to post it. I thought, well, from the ridiculous to the semi-sublime - why not?

Yo!
