GREED
By JohnnyD
06 June 2008
Scarcity of drinking water
Not enough food for everyone
Polluted air
Land up for grabs
Skyrocketing prices of oil
Life is never the same for humans
Even with all the modern inventions and comforts in the world!

The ‘Rich’ are rich
Because they care only for their comforts
The ‘Poor’ are poor
Because they worry all lifelong for others
While the former is busy accumulating wealth
The later struggles to find a means to earn enough money
Life surely, is never the same for humans.

Ever since evolution
The hunger to acquire more than the others
Has seen ‘Millennium’ turn into ‘Ages’
Naked humans turning into gizmo freaks
Life with comforts still is a distant dream for majority
No wonder, the insatiable hunger for greed
Has brought us today where we stand!

Means of greed
Have kept multiplying since ages
Darwin theorized it as the “Theory of Evolution”
“Theory of Evolution” has blinded us of “GREED”
As the world is trying to escape its tightening clutches.
I wonder, with all the intelligence in the world
How well educated we humans are in reality?

Life surely, will never be the same again…

Johnny, whenever we hear the news, we hear of exactly what you are speaking of. Yesterday we heard that one of our Conservative MPs has been directing money into his family's pockets, and I think: "Surely that family must have enough money already as MPs are so well paid." Then we hear of business men "retiring" but not retiring. They take places on this company's board and that company's board etc etc. I ask myself: "Don't they have enough money to live on? Why do they need so much more than everyone else?" It surely must be greed, and you are quite right.

Josie very often my heart boils because of various happenings around my country and the world. My poems are stark reality of our lives. While in our country and all over Europe, the oil crisis is taking a toll, the world have forgotten the basic necessities like WATER / FOOD & SHELTER, that is really so hard for most of the population of various countries around the world.

We fight for trivial things and for what? No one really knows the cause or have real concern about the real issues. Through my poems, I vent my anger and try to make the world realise the truth... well... life goes on.... I guess for as long as you have everything for your survival...
