WHY ?
By Robru
07 June 2008

This little poem needs no explanation, just answers.

Children die in conflicts
Started by grown men,
Why?

Armies drive off families
From their long held land,
Why?

Starvation is quite common
Where conflict does hold sway
Why?

There is enough for everyone
If we all choose to share.
Why Not?

I like the simplicity of this, and the breaking of pattern at the end by 'Why Not?' The questions are asked silently, and therefore more effective.

Indeed, Why not?

Hi Mia, it is a simple thing really. Why can't grown settle their differences without have to affect others. And, why not share?

Yes, your poem is lovely in its simplicity, and yet the content is not simple at all. When Jesus was on this earth over 2000 years ago, it was the same question. He told us to love our neighbour as ourself, but do we do it? No, of course not, and that is the reason why the things in your poem happen. It's as simple to answer as that Bob.

VERY TOUCHING YOU COME ACROSS AS A VERY THOUGHTFUL PERSON

I have been able to avoid taking part in wars and skirmishes that have happened in my life, but I have been to places that suffered in various wars and have seen first hand the terrible consequences. Hence the poem.
